Employee Housing Parking Policy
Purpose
- To establish the policies, procedures, and guidelines for employee parking at our various housing locations.
Scope
- This policy applies to all employees who reside in the Witham Employee Housing.
Permit
- Each employee must register their vehicle with management and secure a parking permit each season. Permits are specific to the employee and the vehicle to which they are registered. All employees must park their vehicle at their designated housing location if a parking space is available.
- The parking permit must be clearly displayed when the vehicle is parked at one of the designated housing parking areas.
- Permits are non-transferable and may be obtained free of charge. Securing a parking permit does not guarantee a parking space but gives the right to park on premises.
- All permits remain the property of Witham Family Hotels. If a permit is lost or stolen, the incident must be reported to management immediately.
Procedures
- Only one vehicle per employee is permitted. Vehicle must have a current valid registration and license plates. Inoperable vehicles are not allowed on the premises.
- All parts of the vehicle must be inside the designated parking space; generally indicated by two white lines. Parking in grassed areas is not permitted.
- Due to the limited number of parking spaces available, spaces will be filled on a first come basis. Be respectful of your roommates: do not take more than one parking space, do not block entrances, and do not block the whole driveway while parking.
- Drivers should not speed, turn carelessly or drive irresponsibly. No littering is allowed.
- Should all the parking spaces at your designated housing be occupied, additional parking is available at 50 Ledgelawn Avenue, Bar Harbor ME, 04609.
- Parking is prohibited in front of dumpsters and all vehicles should be parked at least 25 feet away from the dumpsters.
- Employees are also not authorized to park their vehicle along the curbs, on the sidewalks, or in the way that would hinder/damage Witham Family Hotels property.
- The parking spaces closest to the housing shop, located behind 288 Main Street, is reserved for our maintenance team exclusively. Parking is always prohibited in that specific designated space.
- Witham Family Hotels will not be liable for any damage, vandalism, fire or theft cause to any motor vehicle, or contents thereof, while parked in a company parking lot.
- Unauthorized vehicles or vehicles parked in an unauthorized location will be towed at the owner’s expense.
- Any employee who is found parking in unauthorized or prohibited areas or in other ways disregard this policy will receive a warming and a written reprimand. Repeat offense will result in retraction of parking of parking benefit. If the employee continues to disrespect this policy or in cases of serious offenses, they will face disciplinary consequences up to and including termination.
Parking Permits
Please note that the Witham Family Hotels parking sticker does not give any employee the right to park on the streets, or at any other location without the proper permit issues by the town of Bar Harbor.
All employees must obey by all the rules and regulations issued by the town of Bar Harbor. Witham Family Hotels will not be responsible for any violation of fine received by a employee.
Parking permits for the town of Bar Harbor may be purchased on-line at
www.thepermitportal.com. This is the sole responsibility of the employee, and Witham Family Hotels will not be held responsible for any fees associated with parking in town, including permits, kiosks, fines, etc.
