Housing Rules

  1. All the rules and policies that are in the employee handbook apply to housing.

  2. Any deliberate abuse, damage or destruction of Witham Family Hotel housing units could result in immediate eviction.
    3. NO SMOKING-Out of respect for our fellow housemates, smoking is not permitted in any of the housing units, including porches and decks. Please step away from the building to smoke so it does not bother others around or in the housing. Please make sure to clean any cigarette butts and trash around the area of housing. Any disregard to this policy could be reason for eviction.

  3. If alcohol use or partying of any kind results in disruptive behavior, complaints from neighbors, a call to the police or any other related problems, the housing unit can be shut down per order of the Town of Bar Harbor Zoning Ordinance. If you witness disruptive behavior, please let Human Resources know as soon as possible or contact your manager on duty at your property.

  4. NO DRUGS-Unlawful activities, including, but not limited to the possession, use or selling of illegal drugs and theft could result in termination of employment and immediate eviction.

  5. NO PETS-Dogs, cats, birds or any other pets are not permitted in the housing units at any time.

  6. Burning of candles, oil lamps, incense, etc. is strictly prohibited due to fire safety concerns.

  7. Disassembling any smoke detector is not allowed.

  8. NO VISITORS OR OVER NIGHT GUESTS-No visitors are permitted in housing after 9pm. No exceptions.

  9. Furniture will not be removed from any rooms in housing. Special requests may be submitted to Human Resources for consideration.

  10. Barbecues and grills are not permitted on porches, decks, or within 10 feet of any housing unit.

  11. No painting or physical alteration of the housing units is allowed.

  12. All employees are to maintain their rooms and common areas in a clean manner, free of excessive trash, bottles and cans, and spoiled food.

  13. TRASH REMOVAL-All trash needs to be in a trash bag and closed tightly. Trash pickup requires bags to be closed tightly and in the correct trash bins outside the housing. You will find below the trash pickup schedule based on your housing location:

  14. QUIET HOURS-Noise and music are to be kept to a minimum at all times. Quiet hours are from 9pm-7am.

  15. INSPECTIONS-Housing Management or security will conduct random inspections of housing units, including bedrooms at any time.

  16. Subletting your room and/or unit is never allowed. No exceptions.

Due to safety and maintenance concerns, employees are not allowed to change doorknobs and locks. You are also not permitted to add locks. If you request to do so, you must reach out to our Housing Coordinator and our Maintenance Technician will perform the work if approved.
